Matt Taylor confirms his own arrest

A week ago Saturday, YouTube viewers on Hampstead hoax promoter Matt Taylor’s channel were treated to the spectacle of the Sussex police banging on Taylor’s door and attempting to arrest him.

Taylor refused them entry, and after a long and highly entertaining back-and-forth which included Taylor calling 999 and claiming “fake police” were attempting to “kidnap” him (shades of Neelu!), eventually a compromise was reached: he was to appear at the police station the following Monday, 23 September, at 5:00 p.m.

Monday came and went with no word from Taylor—unusual given his tendency to bleat publicly about his every fart and whistle—and while we heard a few rumours that he had been arrested, we could find no official confirmation, and thus refrained from reporting.

Pull the other one

On Tuesday, 24 September, Taylor posted a picture of the Storr on the Isle of Skye, claiming that he was in the “Scottish Highlands” and commenting, “Sussex police will never find me here, hehehe”.

Odd that he could somehow afford to flee Brighton for Scotland, when only a couple of days earlier he’d been telling the police he could not afford bus fare to the police station a couple of miles away, but whatever.

There followed a string of videos of ever-increasing bizarreness.

On 25 September, Taylor sang-boasted, “I’m free…to do what I want…any old time”, and “you will never catch me!”

In a second video released that day, billed as a “Matt Taylor Arrest Up-date”, he stated:

How can I put it delicately? I’m going to do everything in my powers to resist arrest, and as I have said, I had no intention of going up to the police station at 5:00 p.m.

So what happened was this, okay, I’ll tell you what happened. I was walking out of my house at 5:45 on Monday. An unmarked police car pulls up beside me and says, ‘Matthew Taylor, get in the car’.

And it doesn’t end with a talking police car.

According to Taylor, he fled the police on foot, and somehow managed to make his way to Scotland, with the police in hot pursuit. Fortunately for him, a passing alien spacecraft picked him up and flew him to the Moon. Yes, he really says this. No, he is not seven years old. We think.

In subsequent videos last week he alternately claimed to be hiding out from the Sussex police (and their talking vehicle) on the International Space Station, and then Antarctica. (He also posted a long shaggy-dog story about how he shit his pants whilst on a trip to Washington DC, and somehow managed to get into FBI headquarters and leave his soiled underpants in a toilet there. Aren’t you glad we watch these videos so you don’t have to?)

Finally, on Saturday, Taylor made a brief, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it confession: in a video titled “Sussex Police have sabotaged my election campaign, again!”, he claimed to be a victim of police corruption. Nothing new there, but…

“They misused their powers to sabotage my 2015 and 2019 election campaigns”, he says. And at 0:54, “In 2019 they arrested me for harassment—with intent of violence”.

Now we’re getting somewhere.

Given these titbits of information, it sounds as though Taylor was indeed arrested last week, probably under Section 4 of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

This is the charge on which Rupert Quaintance was found guilty in 2017, and consists of “a course of conduct which causes another to fear that violence will be used against him, and the defendant ought to know that his course of conduct will cause another to fear that violence will be used against them….

Two further videos, posted to YouTube on Sunday, offer a bit more detail: “A charitable appeal to replace the IT equipment stolen by Sussex police” tells us…well, you get the picture.

Police, arrest, IT seized for examination. Taylor putting out the begging bowl. No mention of Scotland, aliens, the ISS, or Antarctica. [Or poo bombs, thank Christ—Ed.]

Curiously, at one point in this video, a devil’s head appears, glowing red eyes and all, behind the question, “Who is @laughingdevil1?”

According to Google, this is the name of a Twitter user who describes themselves thus: “Fighting Antisemitism. Investigative Journalist behind labour antisemitism map.”

What this has to do with Taylor’s arrest and tech confiscation, we do not know.

In a second video yesterday, titled “Matt Taylor Arrest Update #2“, Taylor returns to his Scotland/aliens/Moon/ISS/Antarctica story, and claims that it was “UK Callum who was feeding Sussex police my secret locations”:

Only God knows who this bloody UK Callum is, isn’t he, eh? He must be a police informant! He must be a special witness, I reckon.

Gosh, if we didn’t know better we might think that was a veiled reference to the Hampstead dad, who Taylor has accused of being associated with this blog. Wonder why he didn’t just come out and say the name, though? Could it be that Taylor’s bail conditions prohibit the naming of certain individuals?

In summary, we think it’s safe to say that Taylor was indeed arrested last Monday on suspicion of harassment causing fear of violence; that the police removed his computer, phone, and other tech equipment for examination; that Taylor is currently on bail; and that his bail conditions forbid him from mentioning the name of the person he is suspected of harassing.

We really don’t know why he couldn’t have just come out and said all that in the first place.

  1. As broacasting moguls are concerned about declining reality TV viewing figures they need look no further than parachuting the likes of Taylor,Berry,Wanoa,Koutal,Morris,Disney,Pavement taster and Christie et al onto a remote Island and have a drone periodically fly over to record the carnage.

Hard pressed tax payers would benefit from savings to the public purse and maybe invest in a telly licence.

  2. I wonder if Matt Taylor is planning to plead insanity?

Then again, I usually make the mistake of crediting these people with some degree of intelligence and forethought. They often have neither, and their basic self preservation instincts are serious lacking.

  3. “And it doesn’t end with a talking police car.” – now that made me laugh which puzzled the cat!

Although there is no actual confirmation, we should still probably stay clear of ascribing guilt or innocence just in case there is an active case.

That last picture should have carried a coulrophobia trigger warning!

  6. Bearing in mind what Owl says about commenting on “live” cases, does anyone have any idea whether the police officers whose pictures were used in one of the videos linked were actual police officers (no names need be given) or actors from still from TV shows or films. I watched a video on YouTube claiming to depict scenes from satanism. Now in all honestly I don’t know if the audio speech was authentic or not but one of the scenes was the one from season 1 of “Game of Thrones” where Dany ate a horse’s heart [not a real one obviously] (possibly the video was made before “Game of Thrones” became watched by as many people as it eventually did). Actress Emilia Clarke said that the “heart” was actually made of gummy bear stuff (or something similar to gummy bears) but from the comments under the video some people obviously thought they were really seeing something from a satanic feast.

  7. ““Sussex Police have sabotaged my election campaign, again!”. Sad. 69 voters shockingly disenfranchised. On the other hand- who are these 69 voters and are they still wandering loose?

  8. Yes, we should absolutely steer clear of anything which could damage Taylor’s right to a fair trial, in the event he is charged. For now, all we can say safely is that he has been arrested, had his tech seized, and is on bail.

  9. If his technology has all been “stolen” how has this gent made the videos he has made since the event?

  10. With videos from these people it’s very difficult to sort out fiction from fact. Many of them seem to believe that the The Matrix was a documentary, for example.

  11. Yes, this is an interesting question. Whoever it is, they own a Mac, as he uses the iMovie template for many of his videos (as he did prior to his arrest and tech seizure).

  12. I think they looked to me like photos from local police advertising..may have been actors or the real thing. Matt likes to think he is a “film-maker” (it’s what he claims) so he cobbles together those mad videos using every bit of free tech available possibly in the hope that a bunch of Hollywood film producers (or even New Zealander Peter Jackson -reference: NZ- see “Lord Wanoa” “Auckland” “Cook Street” “29th June Revolution” & “cooking fish-heads in the Boot of Your Car”) will “discover” Matt and immediately punt up $200M for Matt’s “King Arfur” series of fillum epics.
Speaking of: didn’t King Arfur have a Satanic Wizard named Merle (was it Merryn?) who cooked up all manner of spells by boiling frogs etc ?.Matt has posted a video of him reading Tarot Cards (Tool of The Devil) which means his Cry For Help as to “who is @laughingdevil1?” could indicate that he has indeed gone to The Dark Side and looking at a recent passport snap of said King Arfur’s wizard Marylin (below) there is a remarkable resemblance between @laughingdevil1 and Morrie The Wizard of legendary Arfur fame.
    # I could go on but Her Indoors says there are 2 chaps in white coats at the door who want to discuss my imminent arrest so I shall be hot-footing it to the Scottish Highlands.

  18. I doubt he has left Brighton. I don’t think a stock photo of the Isle of Skye proves he has been there any more than posting a few bits of NASA video proves he has been on the ISS or to the moon. His mind seems to work on the level of a primary school child.

  19. Is this why Lord Wanoa the 1st isn’t too popular with some Maori Right’s groups? (ie: all of them).

Prince Johnny castigates the current British royal family as being “Germans” (he spits it out) despite the present Queen having far more distant heritage than his beloved King William (21 August 1765 – 20 June 1837) whose mum was born in Unteres Schloss (Lower Castle) in Mirow ( Wikipedia).
    Now we read:
“Britain expresses ‘regret’ over Māori killings after Cook’s arrival in New Zealand”
Statement from high commissioner Laura Clarke comes ahead of 250th anniversary of Cook’s landing, but stops short of apology.
The British government was due to express regret for the killing of Māori people in New Zealand after the explorer Captain James Cook’s arrival in the country in 1769.

  21. What does the .me stand for in the “Swallowingthecamel” site? Google has not been my friend in looking it up. I wonder sometimes if people who make these “I used to be in the Illuminati” etc videos are like the character in GB Shaw’s “Major Barbara” who says he exaggerates his past sins when going to visit the Salvation Army so that they will be more generous with him. There was even a hoax in the Bible (Old Testament) where one brother made himself seem more hairy so that the father whose sight was failing would give him the blessing that was due to his brother.

  22. Sorry – I addressed two questions in my previous post (I must write “Proof read properly” x-z times). I’d seen a link in the Twitter feed to “Swallowthecamel”. I don’t have a twitter account but can usually click on any links and read the content.

The second matter was me musing about why people make false illuminati or being abused by Luciferians claims. I’m not saying that child abuse isn’t real but I’m sceptical about the Illuminati.

It’s a common theme in the ‘Born Again’ movement, the juicer their prior life the greater their redemption story is.
The other times I’ve seen it from conspiracy leaning people, creationists, alt-med etc, it’s intended to be used to legitimise their current point of view while hand-waving away their lack of coherent\supporting evidence.
