John Paterson pleads guilty on three charges

Well, fancy meeting you here!

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? A lot has gone on in Hampstead Hoaxville since I decided to shutter the place back in November 2019, not the least of which is that John Paterson was arrested, remanded in custody, and then transferred to a secure psychiatric unit pending his trial.

This had originally been set for 4 May 2020 at Wood Green Crown Court, but Covid-19 intervened, and next thing we knew it was bumped to 12 April 2021, and finally to Monday, 26 April at Guildford Crown Court, in front of HHJ Durran.

Last Thursday, a hearing related to the trial was scheduled, then dropped. As it turned out, Paterson had been about to plead guilty, but had been dissuaded by some of his so-called friends.

Court assembled Monday, as originally planned, but before the trial could begin, Paterson’s legal team stated that he would accept the plea deal which had been negotiated, and which he’d rejected last Thursday.

In consideration of Paterson’s pleading guilty to three of the five charges against him, two would be dropped.

What charges, you ask?

Let’s start with the two which were dropped:

1. STALKING INVOLVING FEAR OF VIOLENCE contrary to section 4A (1)(a)and b(i) of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997

PARTICULARS OF OFFENCE: JOHN PATERSON, between the 27th November 2016 and the 31st day of October 2019, pursued a course of conduct which amounted to stalking and caused Karen Irving to fear on at least two occasions that violence would be used against her which he knew or ought to have known would cause her to fear such violence would be used against her on each occasion

3. STALKING INVOLVING FEAR OF VIOLENCE contrary to section 4A (1)(a)and b(i) of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997

PARTICULARS OF OFFENCE: JOHN PATERSON, between the 27th November 2016 and the 31st day of October 2019, pursued a course of conduct which amounted to stalking and caused a person who is protected by previous court order to fear on at least two occasions that violence would be used against him which he knew or ought to have known would cause him to fear such violence would be used against him on each occasion.

And here are the charges to which Paterson pleaded guilty:

2. STALKING INVOLVING SERIOUS ALARM OR DISTRESS contrary to section 4A (1)(a)and b(ii) of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997

PARTICULARS OF OFFENCE: JOHN PATERSON, between the 27th November 2016 and the 31st day of October 2019, pursued a course of conduct which amounted to stalking and caused Karen Irving serious alarm or distress which had a substantial adverse effect on her usual day to day activities and he knew or ought to have known that his conduct would cause such serious alarm or distress.

4. STALKING INVOLVING SERIOUS ALARM OR DISTRESS contrary to section 4A (1)(a)and b(ii) of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997

PARTICULARS OF OFFENCE: JOHN PATERSON, between the 27th November 2016 and the 31st day of October 2019, pursued a course of conduct which amounted to stalking and caused a person who is protected by previous court order serious alarm or distress which had a substantial adverse effect on his usual day to day activities and he knew or ought to have known that his conduct would cause such serious alarm or distress.

5. SENDING ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS WITH INTENT TO CAUSE DISTRESS OR ANXIETY contrary to Section 1(a) of the Malicious Communications Act 1988

PARTICULARS OF OFENCE: JOHN PATERSON, between 21st day October 2018 and the 8th day of November 2019, sent to another person a series of electronic communications which were grossly offensive or threatening which had as one of his purposes to cause distress or anxiety to the recipient or any person, including, but not limited to, Steven Martin to whom he intended that the contents of the nature of the contents should be communicated.

So… no trial?

That’s right. The trial now moves straight to sentencing on the three charges to which Paterson has pleaded guilty.

Sentencing is scheduled to take place on 27 May, and the judge has asked for psychiatric reports on Paterson, as well as victim impact statements, to be sent to the court by 21 May. More on this to come….

What about the blog?

Since the blog closed in late October 2019, I’ve had any number of requests to re-open it. I’m still pondering the best course of action at this point, but for now let’s just say that we’re slowly coming out of hibernation, and our comments section is now officially open.

Many, many thanks to Fruitcake Munchers Club, who kindly hosts the “Discussion Forum for Rational People” on his YouTube channel…many of our commenters gathered there during the blog’s unexpectedly long hiatus, and I expect it’ll remain a place for lively chat. You can find it here, if you haven’t already paid a visit: https://youtu.be/Ig6mhG6hAug

  1. Good grief this is enough to bring me back to life. I bet one of those “good friends” was that goat in Greece who loves stirring it and then sitting back to watch the chaos so he can make one of his ponderous videos while the wife is out working.

          • Weird…I’d disabled comments during my absence, so it’s possible I still have some tinkering to do to get things fully functional again. But it’s good to see you!

          • Yes when the legal gets involved, it does….
I had been wondering about whether he had done something over the top, he had been ramping up for a while and then went uncharacteristically silent, and you closed the blog about the same time…
My ‘spideysenses’ were all tingly, although there were a few other contenders in there too at the time…

    • The Guy in Greece is the same guy who gaslighted him and got him up to mostly what he has done. There needs to be knock on a certain door by the Hellenic police and a certain person apprehended. If that was not the only thing it wouldn’t be half as bad, but there has been flogging of fake cancer cures, online harassment and stalking and inciting others to name but a few.

And it’s great to see you back, even if it’s only fleeting. Thanks for this update and it’s good to see you’ve lost none of that moxy 🎯

  4. Thanks for the update, EC 🎯

Should be interesting to see what sentence he gets. And more to the point, how Andy Devine reacts to it. Expect popcorn shares to soar 🍿

And thanks for the channel plug!

  5. Welcome back!
So good to hear you are back, and hopefully well, now. Good that Patterson won’t distress anyone again… How things have changed… Who would dare, to do what they did, online, then, now? Thanks for your dedication, everybody, esp you, El Cayote! I hope everyone that was affected by this case can rest easier, now….

  6. Woop woop or swoop or something similar! It’s good to be back!
Big thanks to FMC for hosting a channel for fun & frolic, well less of the frolics but for fun & reporting on issues from the fruitloops.
Karen, you have been through so much, I am honoured to know you & respect you greatly. Words fail me about what you went through atm.
When you can share it, I think even the bstrds who are/were responsible may well lose supporters, not only blatant witness intimidation, but vile nasty, sickening posts.
I would like to salute you but as I was never in the armed forces, I won’t, unlike Divvy who saluted no less than 4 times at the end of his last stream full of lies. 🤭 Good to see everyone again.

  7. Thanks for the update EC. What wonderful ‘friends’ he has but at least another one down? Hopefully their ‘advice’ will cost him even more. Does again beg the question as to why the judiciary allowed it to continue for so long before taking action to stop him. Anyway, they got there in the end. Trust you’re okay and trust you’ll submit an impact statement as this bullying thug needs to get the message that he can never do something like this again.

  8. Reactions to the Hoaxted comeback,
APD returns to viewing the world through the bottom of an empty bottle.
Divvy Devine melts into a pool of abject despair on the floor next to the computer to which Heather mops up the mess and then ignores him.
Neelu is busy breaking her personal best in the 100 metre court sprint to to chase down her car again.
Lee Cant does one of his most impressive fist shakes then goes for a lie down with a cup o’ soup (tomato, nothing too spicey)

  9. Welcome back. Great result re: Paterson. I can just hear the screams and cries of anguish of Satan Hunters everywhere at the thought of Hoaxtead comeing back to life. Angela Power Disney is going to age five years just at the thought of it.

    • Looking at Ms. Power-Disney’s recent YT’s output – time does appear to have taken its toll. She looks like tobacco-addled Trailer trash if I’m honest.

I also recall that she is dreading another knock from the Guards following their unwelcome raid to seize her ‘tech’ some years ago, let’s hope she’s still on their radar.

Great to see this blog reopen, even for a while. For those victims of the likes of JP, no one can truly know or understand the impact of the threats and harassment received and I salute their stoicism through this episode.

I hope that any sentence will have a deterrent on the few remaining hard core hoaxers, also throw some light on the unpleasant and criminal face of those who virtue signal about child protection whilst pursuing darker agendas.

Hopefully the sentence will come with some sort of injunction prohibiting similar behaviour in future

        • Sadly, Owl is right. But getting some of the off the street—well, off the internet really—is a worthwhile endeavour, I think. Sentencing is next Thursday, and while it’ll be a closed hearing, I’ll let you know the outcome as soon as I hear.

  11. I read about this on quatloos yesterday (and read your comments there EC). Some folk seemed to think JP’s sentence might be on the low side. The time on remand will come off his sentence of course. Time will tell.

  12. So good to see Paterson facing justice. Well done, EC. I still remember his death threats, his vile antisemitism and his drug induced paranoid rants. Taking down these vile freaks one by one may be a slow and tedious process, but it works. Myself, i just filed another police report in regards to Matt Taylor.
I hope that he and Angela Power-Disney will be the next to face justice in the form of a long and well deserved time behind bars. Devine, Einav ans Simerly are the next hot candidates, i guess.
By the way, talking about vile, deplorable criminals: i haven´t heard a lot from hoaxgirl.
