Hypocrisy writ large

The other day, I wrote that Angela Power-Disney had attempted to submit an unsolicited “character reference” to the court in the days leading up to John Paterson’s trial.

I pointed out the hilarious awfulness of it, but what I didn’t mention is the utter blinding hypocrisy of Angela’s claim that Paterson must be innocent.

Consider this:

Between November 2016 and November 2019, Paterson bombarded me relentlessly, sending me 855 hateful, malicious, and threatening emails. He sent me 88 emails in 2017, 58 in 2018, and 710 between January and November 2019, when he was arrested and remanded in custody. (He also made a number of threatening videos, blog comments, YouTube comments, and the like, but for today we’re looking at the email component.)

“Ah!” you say, “But how could Angela have known what Paterson was sending you privately?”

Simple: she received copies of a great many of the emails Paterson sent me.

So did Andrew Devine, Neelu Berry, Lee Cant, Kaley Einav, Sean Maguire, Matthew Taylor, Jake Clarke…many of the people who cheered Paterson on, and proclaimed his innocence.

“Bill and Ben”, as some will recall, were two of the alleged criminals Paterson threatened to send my way.

“Piggy’s Palace” was the name given to the farm of Canadian serial murderer Robert Pickton, who raped his victims, murdered them, and then allowed their remains to be eaten by the pigs on his farm. Paterson referenced it frequently, implying that this would be my fate, too.

I’ll spare you any more of the emails, which included threats that I would be fed alive into a woodchipper (though to be sporting, he would let me choose whether to go head-first or feet-first). There were also threats that I would be kidnapped, hanged, decapitated, chopped into little pieces, and more.

They arrived in my email inbox, often several in a day, for three full years. And each of them was cc’d to Paterson’s friends. Of course, not every email went to every friend—but a great many went out to people who’ve been publicly lamenting the outcome of his trial.

It’s a little hard to understand how not a single recipient of these ugly missives could see that Paterson was engaging in what could only be described as stalking behaviour.

You’d think that perhaps someone might have warned him to tone it down, if only for his own sake, but no.

They cheered him on. They claimed he was an innocent victim. They clapped him on the back and told him what a spiffing job he was doing, terrorising me and others.

Paterson’s so-called “friends” encouraged him, all right—straight into the arms of the police. And then they had the absolute gall to turn around and claim he’d been “fitted up” and falsely accused. He was mild as a lamb, pure as the driven snow. Never even received a traffic citation…even though by his own admission he’d spent time in Lewes Prison for malicious communications in the past.

Paterson’s “friends” used him mercilessly, even to the point of encouraging him to ignore his legal team’s advice to accept a plea deal which could have earned him a lesser sentence.

Don’t get me wrong: I’m not saying Paterson wasn’t responsible for what he did. But I believe his “friends” must accept some culpability, too.

Will they, though?

In a pig’s eye.

  1. I had no idea you got that sort of hate mail and so many..100s !! Must have been frightening especially as you use your real name & could have been tracked down.
Most of us on here are sensibly anonymous ( not me of course- that’s my real Sovereign Citizen name which I give at traffic stops when I’m traveling, not driving ).

They really are a rum lot aren’t they? Issuing threats and defaming like it’s going out of style. And I don;t recall anyone of here admitting to being a Satanist. Personally I’d like to see Lee Cant up before a judge. Not that I know anything about him and I have no knowledge of anything he has done in his life and most certainly do NOT accuse him off any criminal act. But he’s boring. Of all that lot he is the most boooring and he should pay a price for being a bore.

    • It was frightening, especially in the wake of Sabine McNeill’s trial, when the threats ramped up considerably.

As for Satanists, James Hind is one, but as far as I am aware, he adheres to a much more rigorous code of ethics than a great many so-called Christians who’ve consistently turned a blind eye to threats and abuse online.

      • Fair point, EC. And not to mention some of the more extreme so-called Christian groups. I’d rather be stuck in a lift with a Satanist than with someone from, say, the Westboro Baptist Church 🤮

        • My bridge partner Myrtle Fotheringale-Smythe claims to have psychic, nay satanic powers which is why she always wins at cards (but she just cheats). I’d like to get you stuck in a lift one day with her after she’s consumed one of her (ghastly) pork & baked beans concoctions. You wouldn’t be so cocky after that.

      • I’m so glad you kept the evidence, vile & horrid as the emails were & are.
My instinct would have been to mark them as spam.
The people to whom he shared them with, who purport to be child advocates & Christians do not know the meaning of either terms, nor do their equally sadistic followers.
Well done on keeping a level head & seeing this through. 👏

      • It’s not even them necessarily. They could tip a really dangerous nutter over the edge who feels a need to take revenge on behalf of society.

Don’t forget how the @pizzagate conspiracy claim ended with a bloke going and shooting a gun in the restaurant where families and their kids were eating. Could have turned out a lot differently.

  2. Well said, EC! Proof that Angie, Devine, Neelu, Cant, Kaley and Thingy from Brighton knew full well what was going on, no matter how many lies they spew about Praterson being a little angel who never so much as farted in public 😇

And that’s before you even start on the relentless anti-semitism and homophobia (“Karen the purple-haired dyke”, “that fucking Jewish tranny” etc. etc. ad nauseum). Not to mention his threat to have you kidnapped en route to Sabine’s trial – along with the judge – and murdered. I’m so sorry you were put through all this, EC. Thank you for not buckling, for standing up to that psycho and for not being deterred by his death/rape threats or his army of creepy, swivel-eyed ugg-monsters 🏅

    • Also, lest we forget that in addition to the emails, Praterson frequently made death threats (as well as antisemitic and homophobic remarks) to Karen and the other plaintiffs live on Devine’s shows, often with the likes of Cant, Neelu et al present.

      • Yes, I never once heard any of them suggest that he tone it down. I wouldn’t expect them to object to anyone saying negative things about me, but as I’ve pointed out, they had to know that that sort of behaviour could eventually lead to legal consequences. I’m led to the conclusion that they knew, but didn’t care, so long as it wasn’t them going to prison.

    😦
If any poster here had said anything 1/1000000th as bad, they would be screaming that they were being threatened with everything under the sun…

  6. Remember, the people mentioned here, self-appointed “truthers”, “light warriors” and “childrens rights activists” are the same people that spent the last 5 years not only enabling people like Paterson, but actively encouraging him. The same people that routinely called others “trolls” in their bogus scamming videos. Goebbels would be proud of these vile lot. They need to be held accountable for the harm they have caused. And they will. No one escapes karma. And as the example of Paterson, McNeill et all proves, these people won´t escape justice.

    • Spot-on, Kumpel. And lest we forget that in 2019, when asked whether she condoned Praterson’s rape and death threats and round-the-clock harassment of Karen, Kaley Einav said – and I quote – “She probably deserved it.”

      • The umbrella doesn’t seem to experience empathy. I wonder if she yawns, one of my children read somewhere that people who do not yawn are psychopaths & embarrassingly followed friends & neighbours around some years ago to watch them to see them yawn.
Useless bit of info for the day, not a fact lol.

    • They are trolls in the true sense as they keep moving onto a new drama as each one peters out. And always in the negative with lurid claims of rape & murder, infanticide and so on. Anyone is fair game for accusations on nil proof. John Wanoa is an example. Dropped like a hot brick by Devine as he no longer serves a purpose.

      # And the sheer madness of them. Thinking a sad, broken down Kiwi was going to waltz into London and take No 10 by waving his silly flag.

  7. I’ve always understood ‘Hoaxtead’ to be a form of shorthand for the blog rather than a group of people. There are people who come here to read the article and maybe post but I wouldn’t say they are a group as such. I can’t speak for other people but I’ve certainly never claimed to be a satanist and I find the idea I would grossly offensive. I know there is a difference between the LaVey satanists and traditional satanists.

Changing tack, I knew EC had been threatened but I had no idea the threats were as bad as they actually were. I don’t know if I’d have had the courage to keep going in the face of such venom.

    • Re. Satanism, I myself don’t particularly get it but only because I’m an Atheist and I’d say that about most religions. But I also advocate for freedom of religion and believe people should have the right to practise the religion of their choice (within the boundaries of the law), however anathema it may seem to me – and that includes Satanism. You do actually know a Satanist – James Hind – a valued contributor to these comment pages – and someone with whom I think you get on (I’ve been on YT chat threads with you both on occasions).

  9. John Paterson was fortunately all talk and no walk. The darker side of these Satan Hunters encouraging people like Paterson to acts of harm against others is that someone more inclined to act would be encouraged by this mob to injure or kill someone. The new wave of Satan Hunters are a group to treat with great caution, for instance the boyfriend of Samantha Baldwin burnt down a school and the home of her children.

    • Not even necessarily direct harm either, look at the peripheral cases to the Wong case pending trial and it’s clear that some were “incited” to take the law into their own hands. That very “belief” in specific claims then has an indirect consequence, not least on public resources.

That is the very danger that some of those idiots don’t seem to understand that their bullshit puts other people’s lives in danger or convinces the gullible to act.

Ironically the most recent series of Line of Duty which finished on Sunday had the tagline “Lies Cost Lives” – it’s more true than perhaps some realise.

There is also growing evidence that such lies and persistent false complaints to authorities about individuals or threats to those who dare to challenge the liars is directly connected to cancer cases. I’m already aware of several such cases. Hardly surprising in some senses but it adds into the true costs of such activities.

    • Yes, this was one of the things which frightened me about Paterson’s harassment. There are plenty of unhinged people out there who might be willing to take him at his word and become violent. We’ve seen many examples of this in relation to various conspiracy theories and false allegations in the past few years.

      • We’re familiar with different sorts of loons, all guilty of mind bending hypocrisy when it comes to dishing it out and receiving it themselves. For the most part I think personality disorder and egomania are driving factors but along the spectrum the actual madness becomes dominant:

Scammy types who it’s fair to suspect don’t believe the BS they go on about (Belinda)
        Scammy semi-believers (Disney)
        Shouty weirdos (Devine, Edward Ellis)
        Menacing shouty weirdos (Sabine, Wedger/Archer)
        Galactic space-cadet weirdos (Neelu, Cant)
Space-cadet weirdos, borderline psychotic menace (Yolande, Taylor)
Dangerously delusional, restrain & inject (Paterson)

Once they cross that slightly fuzzy line and can be seen as in need of a straight jacket, like Paterson, you don’t know that they are actually a murderer, and not just a fantasiser of violence, until they do it for the first time. Of course he could equally have inspired some other mentally ill person to commit violence as well but personally I think it’s fair to assess him as a real and actual threat in his own right.
Hopefully his psychiatrists will err on the side of caution, given the depth and persistence of his delusions and violent fantasies and be ready in court with big syringes when he’s sentenced. Fingers crossed.

        • Yes, I think you’re right. Part of what I found frightening was that he seemed not to feel any inhibition whatsoever about making the most grotesque, ugly threats possible.

          • Paterson seems to have no executive functions left. That might feature in the psych report, in the context of “Likelihood of re-offending”.
            1. Paterson was aware that what he was doing was illegal, hence his half-arsed well-advertised camping expeditions so that any constables knocking at his door would find no-one at home.
2, He was fit to plead.
            3. He is unwilling to learn or incapable of learning anything from a prison sentence.

        • Agree – however i think you left out one specific group: the ones who give credence to those “loons” – the likes of Attwood, Brees and others etc.

Without their coverage and promotion of the lunatic claims, most of the “loons” would simply be the old “nutter on the bus” [to use a Jasper Carrott description] and likely to fade into obscurity fairly quickly.

The irresponsibility of such promotional work and lack of challenge against such views is not helping to expose the likes of Paterson it gives them an unneccessary platform [think of it as a soapbox but to thousands in a captive audience] to then further themselves.

It is one of the main differences between mainstream media [who know they would be bollocked if they covered such by OFCOM] and the likes of Attwood etc. It is also the reason why unregulated, uncensored videos like on Brand New Tube are dangerous in their incitement.

Freedom of Speech has limits, unfortunately and rather predictably, the more the “loons” take over the asylum the greater the need for a clampdown and then everyone suffers. The “loons” will then shout victim but ultimately they are the ones responsible for the crackdown – Paterson’s case epitomises that if anything: i.e. a lack of responsibility for what comes out of mouth or in print. Shortsighted gain but long term pain.
