Kristie Sue the Defective Detective is on the case…finally

Some people just cannot take a hint. Not even if you stick it in front of their noses, decorate it with flashing lights and blaring horns, and put up arrows pointing them in the right direction.

We tried, we really did…but it took Kristie Sue Costa, aka the Defective Detective, almost a full year to find the hint and run with it. By that time we’d all but forgotten we’d left it there in the first place, but that’s the Hoaxtead mob for you.

Long on paranoia, short on observation and deductive reasoning skills.

Kristie Sue posted on Facebook the other day that she had made an astonishing find: a “private” YouTube conversation between two people involved with this blog!!!1! Better yet, they were doling out confidential information hand over fist, and she, Kristie Sue, had worked out what it all meant!

Would you like to buy a clue?

Here’s your first clue, Kristie Sue: if it’s on YouTube, it was never meant to be private.

Second clue: if the user’s name is “Google Hoaxtead”, chances are they’re not exactly trying to hide in the shadows.

But never mind…

As for the amazing info Kristie Sue gleaned from this and the following snippets, let’s just say that as usual, she’s barking up the wrong tree. [Just barking, shurely?—Ed.]

“Google Hoaxtead” mentions Maggs Shaw O’Neill, who was indeed involved in debunking the Hollie Greig hoax, and was in touch with part of our team in June through perhaps August 2015. She shared some of the information she’d gleaned from the Holliehoax, as there was a great deal of overlap between it and Hoaxtead. Then, for reasons of her own, in mid- to late August she deleted her accounts and disappeared from sight; none of us have heard from her since then.

Nevertheless, the Defective Detective decided to take this tiny scrap of information and turn it into a bunch of breathless yet completely unwarranted assumptions, as is her wont:

Maggs Shaw O’Neill is on the Hoaxtead ‘team’…

This is the first, actual person with a name we know. Who IS Maggs Shaw O’Neill?

Take a wild guess where Kristie Sue turned for “proof” that Maggs is EC?

Yes, that’s right: she went straight over to that intellectual bastion of truthful and ethical reportage, Malcolm Konrad Ogilvy. As some of our readers may know, Malcolm not only routinely refers to women as “slags”, “cunts”, “whores”, and worse, but he is also convinced that anyone who posts here about the Hollie Greig hoax is either Maggs or Malkie’s nemesis, Matt Quinn.

But never mind: his deranged sputterings suit Kristie Sue’s beliefs and preconceptions. And as we know, she’s not fussy when it comes to accuracy.

Here’s the kicker: at the time when the above YouTube convo was first posted, we were aware that the Hoaxtead mobsters were in hot pursuit of EC’s identity. Apparently he’d ruffled more than few feathers, as a good coyote ought to, and it seemed like a fun idea to lay down a few decoys to keep the mobsters busy amongst themselves. Little did we realise that it would take nearly a full year for them to even pick up the scent! We really need to stop over-estimating their intellectual prowess; clearly, they need the Easy-Read version, perhaps with diagrams and schematics to help them work things out.

We must say, though, that we’re quite looking forward to Kristie Sue’s next brilliant deduction. She never fails to entertain.

Note to our readers

EC has been called away to a family funeral, and will be away for the next week. While he’ll be out of the country, he’s insisting that he’ll keep tabs on Hoaxtead from afar, and will drop in from time to time.
